Psalm 1

1 Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers;
2 but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and they meditate on his law on his law day and night.
3 They are like trees planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in due season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.
4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Read these words slowly, allowing the words to sink in.

Then spend a few minutes in silence thinking about what you’ve read.

Then read the passage again and note any word or phrase that attracts you. Sit in silence and repeat that word or phrase in your head.

Read the passage again and ask God to show you how this word or phrase speaks to your life and ponder.

How do these words impact on your life?

If they really, really impacted on the life of your church congregation, what would happen? What would you notice?  How do you play your part?
