Boys' Choir | | | Activity : | | | Music | | | At St Alphege we have a long tradition of fine choral singing, which enriches our services. We have a large choir of men and boys and also a girls and ladies choir. The boys and girls are given a fine musical and Christian training and there is lots of fun and a marvellous sense of fellowship. We perform lots of interesting music to a very high standard and regularly give concerts and sing services in cathedrals and famous churches, here and abroad. The Choir has an outstanding record of success, including 29 St Nicholas Awards and ‘old boys’ who are now in prominent positions, both musical and academic. The organ at St Alphege is a large and very good instrument. The work of the Choir is backed by “The Friends of St Alphege Music”, an organisation which does great work in the social and fund-raising fields. The Choirs also have very strong links with the Church Schools. The Master of Choristers, Nigel Stark (0121 7051074), is always happy to see prospective choristers and to talk about the work of the Choirs, so if you have a son in the 7 - 11 age range why not bring him along and find out more? | | | Activity : | | | Music | | | The band is a mix of ageing rockers with a small orchestra! Sometimes there are as many as eighteen musicians on vocals, keyboard, guitars, flutes, strings and percussion. We are blessed with an eclectic collection of talented amateur all-rounders, who love worshipping God through the fun gifts of music. Various sections of the band now also support music at Easy Like Sunday Morning in the OBH and All Age worship at St. Alphege and St. Helen. | | | Church : | | | Parish | | | | | Venue : | | | Various | | | | | Age Groups : | | | All Ages | | | | | Regularity : | | | Weekly | | | | | Contact : | | | Andy Halstead 0121 705 0175 |
