NOTICES FOR THE WEEK
Following a process of consultation and review, St Alphege Council has agreed to the following pattern of Sunday evening worship.
Choral Evensong : This continues on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sundays in every month as is the current practice. This may include a sermon or a brief reflection on the anthem, or a form of meditation on the scripture readings, or a reflection on the spiritual aspects of some item of current affairs. The office is sung by the choir, with three hymns for the congregation to sing.
Congregational Evensong and Sermon : This will be on the 4th Sunday in every month, replacing Praise Station (but see below!). This offers greater congregational participation in the form of sung responses and canticles (Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis), with a said psalm and hymns. So for those who have requested greater involvement, it would be good to see you at this service.
New Parish Informal Worship in the Oliver Bird Hall : 1st Sunday in every month from 6pm-8pm. This service will be planned by a team under the direction of the Youth Department and will include worship, teaching and social time together for all who enjoy a more relaxed style of worship.
All of these acts of worship are for the whole parish offering a considerable breadth in style; there is something for everyone.
These new arrangements begin in October.
