Our Children, Youth & Families Ministry is dedicated to helping children, young people and their families grow in faith, friendship, and community. Through engaging activities, worship, and supportive relationships, we create a welcoming environment where children and young people can explore the Christian faith, ask questions, and develop a lasting sense of belonging within the life of the church. We partner with parents and carers to nurture faith at every age and every stage.

Praise and Play is our relaxed stay-and-play group for parents, carers, and little ones aged 0–4. 💛
Join us every Friday in term time, 9:30–10:30am for a drop-in session that’s all about community, connection, and play. No booking needed and no rush to arrive on time — just come as you are! Grown-ups can enjoy a tea or coffee while little hands get busy with crafts, toys, and plenty of space to explore. We round off each session with songs and storytime, perfect for even our tiniest friends.

Solihull Parish Youth Club

Fridays (during term time) 5-6.30pm – The Oliver Bird Hall

Solihull Parish Youth Club (SPYC) is a fun and friendly group for young people in Year 6 and above. We usually meet on Fridays at 5.30pm in the Oliver Bird Hall. Each session includes a mix of games, activities, and chill-out time to hang out, chat, and catch up with friends. There are also chances to join in with events alongside other linked youth groups, making SPYC a great place to meet new people, have fun, and feel part of something.

Messy Church

Monthly on Fridays – 4-6pm – St Helen’s Church

Messy Church is the place where faith, fun, and creativity collide! 🎨🙌
Come along on the third* Friday of the month, 4–6pm at St Helens Church for a hands-on afternoon of crafts (some neat, some gloriously messy!), songs, and Bible stories. Along the way, children discover more about God, themselves, and the world around them. We always finish with a hot dinner for everyone — because nothing beats sharing food and friendship together.

Open The Book

Open the Book brings Bible stories to life for local infant school children. 📖✨
Most Wednesday mornings, our fantastic team of volunteers act out stories from Scripture using the Bible Society’s Open the Book resources — creating engaging, interactive sessions that help children explore faith and grow in their understanding of the Bible. With laughter, storytelling, and lots of smiles, these mornings are a highlight for children from local schools.

If you are interested in bringing Open The Book to your school, please get in touch.

Journey To The Stable – Nativity

Journey to the Stable is a magical way for Year 2 pupils to experience the Christmas story like never before. 🌟✨
Through an interactive journey around our stunning 800-year-old St Alphege Church, children move from station to station, meeting actors who bring each scene of the Nativity to life. It’s a unique opportunity to learn what happened on that first Christmas, grow in faith, and soak up the wonder of this timeless story in a truly captivating setting.

The Easter Journey

The Easter Journey is a powerful, immersive experience for Year 4 and 5 pupils to explore the story of Easter. ✝️🌿

The Puppets at a social event in the OBH.

Solihull Parish Puppets is a group of people who love working together to plan, rehearse and finally perform sketches and songs using a variety of puppets, including arm rod puppets, Sockettes (sock puppets) and stick puppets. We meet during term-time to plan and rehearse our performances. We have a lot of fun together, developing our skills and trying out new ideas. We are particularly grateful to members of our church who have helped with recording sketches and making costumes and props.

To date, we have performed at the different churches within the Parish, but would be interested in performing at other locations too. We are currently a small group of eight, but would love to have more people join us, especially as our young adult members prepare to move on to university, for example. If you are interested in becoming a member of Solihull Parish Puppets, or feel that you could support us in an alternative creative way, then please do get in touch with Ruth Sabbagh, on 0121 705 3088.
